Philpaint's History
Philpaint was originally founded in 1986 by Brian Phillips under the
name Phillips Exterior Cleaning. At the time Brian supplemented his
income as a free-lance writer by performing pressure washing, gutter
cleaning, and window washing services. The business was operated on a
part-time basis out of a spare bedroom in his apartment.
By 1988
Brian was hiring part-time help and had expanded the services offered to
include carpentry and painting. In late 1990 Brian began to work on the
business full-time, and in December of that year the company moved to
its current location on Bellaire Boulevard.
In 1992 the company began shifting its focus to painting
and related services, such as drywall repair and light carpentry. In 1996
Philpaint launched its web site, one of the first painting contractors to do
so.
The Painting Primer, Philpaint's quarterly newsletter, was introducted in 1998.
The newsletter keeps customers informed of new products and procedures,
company training, and industry news.
In early 1999 the company name was changed to
Philpaint Inc. to reflect the company's growing expertise and
reputation in the painting industry.
In January 2001 Philpaint joined the Certified Contractors NetWork in an effort
to increase the quantity and quality of employee training. In June of the same year
Philpaint joined the Painting and Decorating Contractors of America trade
association to further improve employee training.
In July 2004 Philpaint joined the
National Alliance of Professional Painters (NAPP)
to continue its efforts in providing better customer service. The following
January Philpaint helped establish the local affiliate of NAPP, the
Houston Alliance of
Professional Painters (HAPP).

has been a proud member in good standing of the Greater
Houston Better Business Bureau since 1993.
As a member of the BBB we support truth in advertising, and
subscribe to the Bureau's Code of Ethics and Consumer Care Program.
NATIONAL ALLIANCE OF
PROFESSIONAL PAINTERS™
Philpaint is a member of the National Alliance of Professional Painters™ (NAPP).
NAPP is an
organization made up of professional men and women actively engaged
in the business of paint contracting.
NAPP members are independent business owners who enjoy the benefits
of being part of a larger organization, without giving up their independence.

Philpaint has been a Wolman Wood Care Products Certified Contractor
since 1995.
As a Wolman Certified Contractor, we can help
homeowners and property managers clean, restore,
and protect their decks, fences, and other outdoor wood.

Philpaint provides professional interior and exterior painting services throughout
Southwest Houston, including the following communities:
Bellaire, West University, Rice Village, Southampton, Montrose,
The Heights, Braeswood, Meyerland, Tanglewood, River Oaks, and
surrounding areas.
